The hotel occupies North Clark Street in River North, part of Chicago's Near North Side immediately north of the Chicago River and west of Michigan Avenue. The surrounding streets are densely urban, with restaurants, bars, galleries, offices and entertainment venues throughout the neighbourhood. State Street is approximately 200 metres away, while the Chicago Riverwalk and Michigan Avenue are about 600 metres away on foot. Grand station on the CTA Red Line is roughly three minutes away, and Merchandise Mart station is about six minutes away. Many central attractions can therefore be visited without a car. Drivers should expect paid parking rather than complimentary hotel parking.

Major conventions, sporting events and festivals can increase hotel demand throughout the year. Public transport remains useful in all seasons, although severe winter weather can occasionally affect travel times.
