Am Leuchtenfeld lies at Travemünde’s seafront, between the sandy beach and the mouth of the River Trave. The immediate surroundings include the promenade, Old Lighthouse, beach facilities, cafés and viewpoints overlooking passing ferries and sailing boats. A passenger ferry crosses to the Priwall peninsula and museum ship Passat. Vorderreihe’s shops, restaurants and historic houses are within walking distance, while Lübeck-Travemünde Strand railway station is about ten minutes away. Regional trains connect with Lübeck, and buses serve neighbouring coastal resorts. Lübeck Airport is approximately 28 kilometres away by road.

• Travemünde Beach – approximately 100 metres: The broad sandy beach offers swimming, coastal walks and traditional covered beach-chair hire during the main season.
• Old Lighthouse Travemünde – approximately 300 metres: Germany’s oldest surviving lighthouse contains a maritime museum and a viewing platform above the Trave estuary.
• Nordermole and harbour entrance – approximately 500 metres: The harbour wall provides close views of ferries, sailing vessels and ships entering the Baltic Sea.
• Four-masted barque Passat – approximately 800 metres via the Priwall ferry: The preserved sailing ship presents Travemünde’s maritime history from its berth across the river.
• Vorderreihe and Travemünde Old Town – approximately 1 kilometre: The riverside street combines historic façades, shops, cafés, restaurants and harbour views.
• Seebad Museum – approximately 1.5 kilometres: Exhibitions explain Travemünde’s development from a fishing settlement into a Baltic seaside resort.
• Brodtener Steilufer – approximately 4 kilometres: The natural cliff coast has walking and cycling routes with open views across Lübeck Bay.

• Use Lübeck-Travemünde Strand station for regional rail journeys rather than driving into Lübeck or neighbouring coastal resorts.
• Reserve parking early during summer weekends and major sailing events, when spaces around the seafront are heavily used.
• Take the passenger ferry to Priwall for the Passat, marina and quieter walking routes on the opposite side of the Trave.
• Walk or cycle towards Brodtener Steilufer when the main beach and promenade become crowded.
• Bring a windproof layer throughout the year because conditions at the exposed harbour entrance can change quickly.

June to August brings the warmest beach weather and longest daylight hours, but also the greatest visitor numbers. July is particularly busy around Travemünde Week and the summer holidays. May, September and early October are often comfortable for cycling and coastal walks. Winter is colder and windier, yet quieter, with the indoor pools and saunas making the hotel suitable for off-season wellness stays.
