Hotel description and useful information for travellers

Cleanliness

Generally reported as clean (e. g. , 'Alles was schoon'); rooms and public areas well kept for most guests, though one guest reported housekeeping missed cleaning for two days.

Service

Staff frequently described as friendly and attentive with good hospitality, but there are notable service failures: reception disputes/overcharging, refusal to reasonably accommodate an extra night in an emergency, and some operational lapses (breakfast timing, housekeeping).

Location

Many guests praise the peaceful, attractive grounds, proximity to transport/airport and easy access to Edinburgh by bus; a minority found it less convenient for central Edinburgh.

Room Quality

Rooms are described as spacious with comfortable (often praised) beds and good facilities; some guests note worn beds, older areas, and minor maintenance issues (e. g. , bathroom caulking) or modern wing needing refresh.

Amenities

Strong amenities: pool, spa, full golf circuit, fitness facilities and on-site restaurant/bar are frequently highlighted as excellent features of the property.

Value for Money

Mixed value: some guests call it good value, but several significant complaints about overcharging (extra room/bed charges) and an unusually high rate for an emergency extra night lowered perceived value.
